I am Dr. Kirti Shankhdhar, a senior Gynaecologist, Obstetrician, Preventive Oncologist, and Colposcopist based in Chembur, Mumbai, with over 25 years of dedicated experience in women’s healthcare. My journey in medicine began with a strong academic foundation, completing my MBBS and advancing to postgraduate training in Gynaecology and Obstetrics. I am honoured to be a Diplomate of the National Board (D.N.B.), reflecting rigorous training and excellence in my speciality. I have also earned advanced certifications in colposcopy through the International Federation for Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy (IFCPC) and the World Health Organization to further deepen my expertise in cervical health and cancer prevention. 

Over the years, I have built a clinical practice grounded in compassion, precision, and preventive care — all aimed at empowering women to live healthier lives at every stage. My core focus areas are high-risk obstetrics, cervical pathology, comprehensive cancer screening, and preventive oncology. I believe that effective healthcare is not just about treating disease, but anticipating risks, providing education, and ensuring early intervention whenever possible. 

In obstetrics, I specialize in managing high-risk pregnancies, where additional monitoring, tailored care plans, and evidence-based interventions are essential for the well-being of both mother and baby. High-risk pregnancies encompass a range of medical and obstetric conditions, including advanced maternal age, gestational diabetes, hypertension, prior surgical history, or previous pregnancy complications. Through personalised care and vigilant monitoring, my goal is to ensure safe pregnancy journeys and positive outcomes for families.

Another important aspect of my practice is addressing cervical and reproductive tract issues that are often overlooked or misdiagnosed. Persistent vaginal discharge, abnormal bleeding, or recurrent symptoms that don’t respond to routine treatment can frequently originate from cervical pathology rather than simple infections. Through specialised diagnosis and targeted treatment, I help many women find relief where conventional approaches fall short.

A major area of my professional dedication is Preventive Oncology — particularly cervical cancer prevention. Cervical cancer remains one of the most preventable forms of cancer when identified early. My preventive oncology practice includes HPV vaccination, Pap Smear using Liquid-Based Cytology (LBC), HPV testing, colposcopy, and colposcopy-guided biopsies. These diagnostic tools allow for early detection and treatment of precancerous changes, often before symptoms emerge. By prioritising screening and early action, I work to significantly reduce the burden of cervical and other women-specific cancers in the community I serve. 

Throughout my career, I’ve also pursued advanced training in areas such as aesthetic gynaecology and developmental aspects of women’s midlife health, ensuring that my practice remains holistic, evidence-based, and continually evolving. I am grateful to have received recognition for my contributions, including awards for outstanding clinical excellence and life memberships in esteemed medical organisations.
